A 42-year-old man was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate Gennis Mangosi yesterday facing an unlawful entry charge.

Aleck Maricano of Ruwa will be back today in court today for bail application.

The State said on November 22 last year at around 8pm, the complainant retired to bed and left his employee James Sithole securing his shop in Hatcliffe Extension.

It is alleged that Maricano and his accomplice, only known as Peter, who is still at large, broke into the shop that same night and stole 4x48kgs gas tanks with gas and one manual pump, and fled.

The complainant reported the matter to the police after discovering the break in.

The State said on December 17, last year, the complainant was advised by his brother that he had seen the stolen gas tanks at Pamuzinda shopping area in Hatcliffe.

The following day the complainant went to the place and managed to identify them and alerted detectives from CID Borrowdale, who successively recovered the tanks leading to the arrest of Maricano.

Zebedia Bofu represented the State.
