A CHITUNGWIZA motor mechanic on Thursday lost his client’s vehicle when robbers pounced on him while he was caressing a sex worker at Chikwanha Shopping Centre.
Farai Tazarurwa, 51, of St Mary’s, drove the black Toyota Passo for a beer drinking spree at a bar at the shopping centre.
Farai and his lover were in the parked car when three unidentified men pounced on them, assaulted them with some objects and forced the two to flee.
The robbers took control of the vehicle and sped off.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects.
“Police are investigating the theft of a car that took place at a bar in Chitungwiza,” said Insp Chakanza.
“Circumstances were that on October 31, at around 1300 hours, an unidentified man left his motor vehicle in the custody of a motor mechanic for repairs.
“The two did not exchange personal details as they knew each other from previous encounters.
“On November 1, at around 0100 hours, the mechanic drove the vehicle to Chikwanha Shopping Centre, on a beer drinking spree. While at Chikwanha Shopping Centre, the mechanic approached an unidentified commercial sex worker and asked her to get into the motor vehicle.
“As the two were seated in the motor vehicle, they were approached by three men and one of them smashed the driver’s window and opened the door from inside.
“The mechanic and the unidentified commercial sex worker fled from the scene, leaving the vehicle behind and the accused person then drove off the motor vehicle,” said Insp Chakanza.
