A 27-year-old Epworth man appeared in court accused of raping his teenage girlfriend.
Booker Muchenu was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate Rumbidzai Mugwagwa charged with rape.
The accused was remanded in custody to April 9 for trial commencement.
The State has it that the complainant and Muchenu were in a love relationship and the two were having consensual intercourse for a couple of times.
Allegations are that on April 2 this year at around 10am, the complainant visited Muchena at his place of residence in Epworth and she was sitting outside with other tenants.
The accused called the complainant into his room and she refused to go as she was conversing with other people.
A few hours later, the complainant was left alone outside and Muchena who noticed that she was left alone, came to where the complainant was and carried her into his room.
It is alleged that Muchena pushed the complainant who hurt her arm in the process and locked the door.
The accused tried to remove the complainant’s blouse and whilst they were struggling neighbours who were outside heard shouts coming from Muchena’s room.
However, upon their arrival to rescue the complainant, Muchena had already finished raping her.
After the accused had finished, he made death threats to the complainant who was ordered to take her clothes and go out of his house.
The complainant who felt her rights had been violated told the neighbours what had transpired between the two and a complaint was lodged with the police resulting in Muchena’s arrest.
