A Gweru man appeared before a Harare magistrate accused of stealing two wagon tents belonging to the National Railways of Zimbabwe and valued at US$2 400.
Simbarashe Shoriwa, 25, pleaded not guilty to theft charges when she appeared before magistrate Rumbidzai Mugwagwa.
Shoriwa told the court that it’s his first time to be in Harare.
“It’s my first time for me to be in Harare and the place is not familiar your worship.
“I didn’t steal anything and these are just fabrications.
“How can a new person in an area steal?” he said.
The State led by Sebastian Mutizirwa alleges that in March this year the accused person stole two x 17 metres wagon tents.
According to the State, Shoriwa was found in possession of stolen property.
