A Harare court was on Wednesday granted the police’s application to further detain a murder suspect who is currently assisting the police to arrest his alleged accomplices who are believed to be on the run.
The suspect Lloyd Tinashe Kondo appeared before Harare magistrate Barbra Mateko.
Circumstances are that on September 20, the complainant was in the company of Nigel Bikiri his friend and Emmanuel Kwaipa a taxi driver, driving a silver Toyota Runx along Robert Mugabe Road on his way to Mozambique to purchase bales of second hand clothes on behalf of their clients.
Upon reaching a bus stop near ZRP Rhodesville, they were stopped by Kondo who was in the company of his accomplices who are still at large; two of them were in police attire and the others were in plain clothes.
It is further alleged that Kondo demanded Kwaipa’s driver’s license and was given and immediately he removed the driver from his seat and he took charge of the car.
The car was driven along Mutare Road towards Msasa and they stopped off road where they were ordered to disembark and the complainant was struck twice on the head with a baton before taking a satchel with US$130 000 and sped off in their getaway car.
