FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza says he is grateful after his charges salvaged a crucial point away to SG Sagarada Esperence of Angola in a CAF Champions League match on Saturday.
The match ended 0-0 much to the delight of Platinum miners who had to participate in the tournament despite one month of preparation due to Covid-19 induced inactivity.
In an interview with H-Metro Sport, Mapeza showered praises to his lads for getting the vital point and a clean sheet.
“Yes, I am more than happy for the boys, they deserve a round of applause considering our background. We only had less than a month to prepare for this match and they have defied the odds, it is something to cherish. They went to the extremes to get us this point and it is something we should not take lightly.
“We still have a long way to go. It is an uphill task.
“The focus is now on rectifying the areas which we are still lacking. After this game, we realized that there are still boxes we urgently need to tick.
“If we can correct those errors, I am sure we can definitely proceed to the next round. We are going to work on our precision,” said Mapeza.
The reverse fixture is scheduled to be played next weekend at the National Sports Stadium in Harare.
