Mbira queen Stella Chiweshe is set to perform at the Women, Wine and Words Festival which began yesterday running till October 26 at Theatre in the Park.
The three-day festival, which is currently underway is set to advocate for an Africa with strong culture identify.
In an interview, Passmore Ndlovu who is part of the organising team said the festival is all-African and led by women from across the continent.
“The event is set to bring all Africans together hence Stella Chiweshe representing us as Zimbabweans.
“We are advocating for an African with a strong culture identity, common heritage, values and ethics.
“For an Africa whose development is people-driven, relying on the potential offered by African people, especially women and youth caring for children,” said Passmore.
“Other females who will be performing include Tsitsi Dangarembwa, Hope Masike, Dudu Manhenga, Shanti Lo from Botswana, Refiliwe Nkomo from South Africa, Carol Anande Tanzania and many others.
“Issues to be discussed include violence against women and children, Sex and Sexuality, Decolonising the body and many others.”
