A WELL-KNOWN mentally-ill man from Rimuka suburb, only identified as Stefan, passed away on Friday morning after consuming a suspected poisonous soft drink.

A source close to developments said his father narrated how Stefan came home with a soft drink.

And, after drinking it, the source says, he started vomiting and fell unconscious.

He was pronounced dead on admission to a local hospital. The sprawling suburb woke up to shocking news of his death on Friday.

“Stefan is no more, you are now sacrificing an already tormented soul for personal riches,” said a resident on a community WhatsApp group.

“Mkoma Stefani vaenda vasina kumborwara, vanhu vakaoma, vakuita kuda kwavo,” said another.

Stefan was once taken to Norton by some unidentified apostolic faith healers who came to Kadoma.

They claimed they were cleansing the city of mentally challenged residents.

Rungano and Zuze, who are also mentally challenged, were also taken to Norton.

However, the three found their way back to Kadoma after walking from Norton.

The late Stefan was laid to rest at Rimuka Cemetery on Heroes Day.
