FC Platinum skipper Petros Mhari believes his side crashed out of the CAF champions league preliminary round with honour.

The platinum miners played to a stalemate 0-0 before losing on penalties 5-4 to Sagrada Esperence of Angola in Saturday.

Platinum was cleared to prepare for CAF Champions League fixtures in a less than one month period due to Covid-19 induced inactivity.

In an interview H-Metro, Mhari expressed his delight of keeping Clean sheets in the preliminary round.

“Yes, I am very happy for not conceding. It shows how organized we are. It is every goalie’s dream to refuse to let in goals. We played as a team. It is unfortunate that we are now out of the tournament. It has been a long time without playing competitive football and it will be out of arrogance to point fingers at each other. We performed well.

“It was a learning curve, we are going to work on areas which we need to improve. Overall, am happy with how we played. It was our desire to proceed to the next stage of the tournament. It is evidenced with the determination which the boys exhibited but somehow it is what is it.

“The fact that we lost on penalties makes the wound painful but in all honesty we are walking away with a smile. It is amazing because we managed to go toe toe with a team which has been playing football regularly unlike us.

“The boys deserves Credit. We could have easily ironed out the our blunders and rust if we had adequate preparations but it is now water under the bridge. Our focus now is on the forthcoming League and the Chibuku Super Cup,” said Mhari.
