Mhofu era ends! Sunday 'Mhofu' Chidzambwa

SUNDAY ‘Mhofu’ Chidzambwa stepped down as Warriors coach yesterday and his technical team looks set to follow suit.

Mhofu had looked set to lead the Warriors for their opening CHAN qualifier against Mauritius and had already been allocated an air ticket.

He however, wrote to Zifa announcing his decision.

The other members of the technical team were understood, as of early last night, to be staying put at least for the Mauritius trip as stepping down this late would be tantamount to sabotage.

In a letter to the Zifa president, Felton Kamambo, Mhofu said his resignation was with immediate effect.

“This letter serves to notify you of my decision to resign from the position of coach of the Zimbabwe men’s national team with immediate effect. My last day at work will be the 24th of July 2019.

“I wish to convey my profound gratitude to the association for the time I have served as the national team coach,” wrote Mhofu.

H-Metro understands that there was information from Zifa that the board intended to fire Mhofu and his technical team once he submits his AFCON 2019 technical report.
