HARARE-based model, Tadiwanashe Chikono, is confident of winning this year’s edition of Mr Zimbabwe International.
The 21-year-old will compete against 20 other contestants at Holiday Inn Hotel on Saturday.
A firm favourite to win the title, Chikono, who is also a swimmer and rugby player, has vowed to make an impact if he wins the contest considering the journey he has travelled.
“It’s overwhelming to see how the majority has been reacting positively to my commencement of this journey, there is nothing that makes me happier than seeing the support I have been receiving from my family and friends.
“Participating in a high-profile event, such as Mr Zimbabwe International, is an opportunity to grow and improve my modelling skills.
“I’m expecting to learn from industry experts, the likes of my director Mr Ishmael Murangandi, and I’m also looking forward to receiving constructive feedback and enhancing my overall performance abilities,” he said.
Chikono says he was also looking for exposure as a model.
“I’m also seeing this as an opportunity to gain exposure and recognition and I’m expecting to raise my profile in the fashion and entertainment industry.
“I’m also expecting the competition to provide me with exposure through media coverage, social media promotion, and potentially even international recognition.”
The model is currently studying Irrigation Engineering and he has always had an interest in agriculture from childhood.
His dream is to represent Zimbabwe on the international scene.
“I plan to use this platform to represent Zimbabwe with pride and professionalism.
“I’m aiming to showcase the beauty, diversity and talent of Zimbabwe while creating a positive image on a global platform.
“This platform is an opportunity to network with industry professionals, including photographers, designers, agents and potential clients and I also hope to make valuable connections that could lead to future career opportunities.”
Mr Zimbabwe International was established in 2021 with Shadel Noble becoming the first king.
The next edition saw Francisco Kampira, again from Bulawayo, winning the prestigious title.
The pageant is open to men aged between 21 and 30 years
