CANADA-BASED Zimbabwean model, Diana Mupereri, has realised her dream after taking part in the 2024 New York Fashion Week.
The 25-year-old reckons her participation, at one of fashion’s biggest stages, was a culmination of years of hard work and determination to represent her country of origin.
Diana had the honour to close out on the runway wearing Revived Clothing and Design outfits.
She told H-Metro:
“The most rewarding feeling is knowing that young girls back home in Zimbabwe are seeing one of their own make waves on the international stage.
“I’m honoured and it proves that, with determination, young African girls have what it takes to succeed globally.
“We don’t have to limit our dreams to our borders,” said Diana.
The model, who is also a founding partner for 6ixElement, says she will use her influence to open doors for fellow Zimbabwean girls.
“Being the show-stopper for REVIVED Clothing and Design at NYFW 2024 was a major highlight of my career and to be trusted to close the show was an indescribable feeling.
“I want young girls in Zimbabwe, and across Africa, to know that the runway is theirs too and soon I will be launching my online mentorship class to help young models,” she said.
Despite finding success in a competitive industry, Diana has never lost sight of where she comes from and how she wants to inspire both young girls, and boys in Zimbabwe and Africa, through her journey.
Diana derives a lot of pride for featuring in the April 2022 Vogue magazine where she was photographed by acclaimed photographer Antony Gordon.
Afterwards, Diana gained international traction before graduating from New York University with a Bachelors degree in Humanities.
