A man who stole a motorbike in Banket will spend the next year behind bars.
Ali Nikazi, 25, of Kuwadzana suburb in Banket appeared before Chinhoyi provincial magistrate Tamari Chibindi charged with theft where he readily pleaded guilty.
The complainant is Abraham Abraham, 51, of Kamwaza Township in Raffingora.
Nikazi was sentenced to 12 months in jail where six months were suspended on condition of good behaviour for the next five years.
He will serve an effective six months in jail.
Prosecuting Irene Mapfumo told the court that on September 1, Abraham woke up and noticed that his motorbike which he had parked outside was missing and he went and made a report at Raffingora police post.
On September 9, Sergeant Kamususa received a tip off from anonymous call to the effect that Nikazi was in possession of the motorbike.
He teamed up with other police officers and reacted swiftly along Banket-Mazvikadei road and met Nikazi who was driving the motorbike.
He was arrested and the motorbike recovered.
Abraham was advised and he positively identified his motorbike.
