A MOTORIST lost his vehicle to robbers he had offered a lift from the CBD in Harare to Greencroft on Thursday night.
Two of his passengers were also robbed.
David Gomo (41) of Sunridge picked up seven people in his Nissan Liberty vehicle along Leopold Takawira Street at around 9pm.
Among the passengers were Charity Masokowere (43) and Tedious Chirume (45), who also fell victim to the robbery and lost their belongings.
Gomo dropped one passenger along the way, and two men asked to be dropped along Suffolk Road.
When he stopped, one of the passengers grabbed him from behind and took control of the car, while the other demanded valuables from the other passengers.
The robbers took Gomo’s clothes and US$400, while Charity and Tedious lost their Itel P40 cellphones.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, said the three were dumped after being forced to strip naked.
“The complainants were ordered to remove all their clothes and the suspects tied their hands with shoe laces and belts.
“The three were dumped along Shamwari Road and the suspects drove off with complainants’ clothes.
“The complainants managed to free themselves and intercepted a security guard who helped them with a cellphone and they contacted their relatives who then came to their rescue,” said Insp Chakanza.
