MINISTER of Health and Child Care Dr Obadiah Moyo has applauded Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe (MCAZ) for their eagerness to continue to improve the practice of regulatory sciences and good governance.
Speaking during the MCAZ stakeholders’ forum held in the capital yesterday, Dr Moyo said the country needs a healthy population that has access to safe, effective and quality assured health commodities.
“When the MCZA performs its mandate of protecting public and animal healthy by ensuring that all medicines, allied substances and devices are safe effective and good quality, it contributes to the vision of the Ministry of Health and Child Care of promoting the health and quality of life of all Zimbabweans.
“As the parent Ministry we are committed to facilitating compliance by the MCZA to the national corporate governance frameworks, drafting necessary legal instruments for effective regulation in an ever-changing environment, just to mention a few.
“When Government establishes state enterprises and statutory, such as the MCZA, to deliver services to the public on its behalf, it expects the highest level of efficiency, transparency and accountability,” he said.
The Minister added:
“Let us all assist the MCZA by identifying the achievements and successes for the year 2018 that deserve our celebration and reinforcement going forwards.
“We also draw their attention and make suggestions on areas that need strengthening in order to become a Middle Income Economy by 2030.”
