SOUTH Africa-based music producer, Mr Brown, has set up a studio in Mt Pleasant, Harare.
Born Lynol Siwela, 33 years ago in Gweru, the versatile entertainer is behind South African energy goddess Makhadzi’s success story.
He has also produced more than 30 top South African Amapiano artists.
“My new studio in Harare (Mr Brown Music, MBM) is one-month old but within that period, we have done wonders,” he said.
“I’m that person who prefers to make my work do the talking while I concentrate on my job in the studio.
“I’m working on an amapiano album dubbed Zim Amapiano Volume 1.
“It’s a genre, which I promoted in South Africa, and I felt I could do the same in my homeland.
“I don’t want to be remembered as a person who didn’t do something for his country.”
He added:
“It has been a month of hard work at the studio in Mt Pleasant where I have worked with the likes of Anita Jackson, Jah Signal, Miss Daisy, Sabastian Magacha and Freeman.
“I have also done some projects for Jah Prayzah and Alick Macheso’s collaboration with Makhadzi called Shampompo due for release at the end of August.
“All this is happening here in Mt Pleasant, which has become my new baby when I am settled in Harare.”
Mr Brown, who started off as a club disc jockey, sees the grace of the Lord in his journey.
“When I visited South Africa 15 years ago, I didn’t know that I was going to be an international brand.
“I met a certain guy who taught me music production.
“As someone who plays the acoustic guitar, it was easier to master the ropes and I am glad that my breakthrough came when I produced my song Lazaro featuring Winnie Khumalo.”
He has produced tracks for Akon, Master KG, Zandamaz, Zanda Zakuza, Nomcebo, Papa Penny, Kabza de Small, Cassper Nyovest, Big Zulu, Boity, Focalistic, Botswana’s Vee Mampeezy, among others.
