Warriors skipper Emmaculate Msipa believes they are one leg through after winning 3-1 against Eswatini in an Afcon qualifier yesterday.

Msipa scored on the stroke of halftime to give the hosts an edge ahead of the second leg.

If Zimbabwe progress, they will face either Angola or Botswana early next year in the second and final qualifying round of the WOMEN AFCON qualifier and the finals will be played in Morocco from June 27 to July 31 in 2022.

“I just want to thank the girls with the effort. They fought a good fight. It was not a easy match. They gave there all.

“We are really disappointed with the away goal which they scored. It was an important goal for them. They will start to believe and I feel we should have done better in avoiding the goal. Overall, am happy with the final result,” said Msipa.

She ensured the nation that the victory in the return fixture is certain and urged the nation to believe.

“I want to promise the nation that we are going to win the away fixture. We are going there to collect all the three points to make them six so that we make it through. I believe we are prepared enough to finish the job and wait for the next challenge.

“As we are likely going to face Angola or Botswana. Am optimistic that we are going to win. We have played them before at the COSAFA and we know how that play and I believe this is our best chance to qualify for the Women AFCON. If have a greater chance. I believe only need to prepare better to fulfill our objectives,” she said.
