ANDY Muridzo, who severed ties with former manager Gift Petro, has roped in new brooms to run his affairs.
The 27-year-old, whose camp has been rocked by squabbles, says he made the decision to save his career and brand.
He was also quick to dismiss reports Andy’s new wife – Nyarie – had taken over the band, stripping him of privileges at the helm of Jeetaz Band.
His new team is led by youthful Harare businessman, Onisimo Saini.
Fellow youthful entrepreneur Ronald Mujuru has been roped in as brand manager while John Mukucha comes in as a band coordinator responsible for day-to-day operations of the group.
In an interview, Andy said he had given his management team targets to ensure they reposition the brand.
“These guys are concentrating not only on performances but rebuilding the brand itself.
“We made this resolution because Gift concentrated more on things that could get him money in the pocket forgetting that securing the brand is the most important thing in the industry
“He did the same with Kapfupi, Slizer and himself too,” he said.
Andy also denied that Petro quit saying he was FIRED.
“Petro is lying when he says he quit the band but I actually fired him after realising he was a liability.
“I could not work with someone who cannot defend his brand when he is tasked to do so.
“Petro aitowedzera moto and I realised that I needed a serious person who understands management.”
Andy also cleared the air on the alleged involvement of his wife in the band’s affairs.
“He should put my wife out of this since he destroyed this thing (Andy Muridzo brand) instead of protecting it.
“On that note, my message to fans is we are still pushing to the top and we won’t be moved basa ratakazvarirwa kufadza varungu vedu,” he added.
Onisimo and his team were set to be paraded last night at Eastpoint (formerly Jazz 105) where his midweek slot had endeared the singer with fans.
The departure of Petro has also come at the time when Andy currently in the studio working on a new album due for release next month.
However, one of Onisimo’s main tasks is to oversee the album launch on August 22.
Onisimo comes on board after Petro overseen the launch of such album as Tichambotenderera and Munondo.
However, Petro should be credited for his efforts as Andy managed to tour South Africa, UK and Botswana when he was still at the helm of the band.
Prior to his elevation to the top between 2016 until last week, Petro was also in charge of Andy’s social media pages and even his private errands as a runner.
He is not the first manager to part ways with Andy whose affairs were once run by his close friend Simbarashe Nyaunga aka Simba the Lion.
Nyaunga has since assembled his own band and he has been holding a series in the capital.
Former Jah Prayzah and Pamela “Gonyeti” Zulu’s manager Filda “Mama Filo” had a short stint at the helm of Jeetaz Band before she was replaced by Petro.
Mama Filo took a sabbatical before she rekindled her love for showbiz with Baba Harare.
To date, she is still running Baba Harare’s affairs and it appears she has settled well.
Now that Andy has new brooms in the house running his affairs, all the eyes would be on Onisimo and the team with a plenty of work to do and safeguard the brand.
