MUSHEKWI KEEPS FIRING

AGELESS Zimbabwe international forward, Nyasha Mushekwi, has now scored double figures in the last three seasons in the Chinese Super League.

The 35-year-old striker scored his 11th goal in the Chinese Super League at the weekend.

He fired home the opener as his Zhejiang Greentown side beat Wuhan Three Towns 2-1.

With the goal, Mushekwi moved to 11 goals in 19 matches this season and within four goals of teammate Leonardo, who is currently top of the scorers’ chart. His statistics so far read 19 games played, 11goals scored, two assists and one yellow card. 

It is the third successive season that Mushekwi has reached double figures at the Chinese club, having scored 23 in 2021, when they returned to the Super League.

He scored 18 goals last season.

Remarkably, Mushekwi has reached double figures in 10 of the 13 seasons that he has played professional football in South Africa, Sweden and China.

The victory moved Mushekwi’s fifth-placed Zhejiang to 31 points from 20 matches, four behind second-placed Shandong Taishan with 10 matches remaining in the season.

Zhejiang need to finish among the Top Three to fight for a place in the Asian Champions League.

Mushekwi has established himself as one of the best strikers in the Chinese Super League.
