MDC Alliance senator, Douglas Mwonzora was yesterday dragged to court facing charges of contravening the Road Traffic Act in errant driving.
Douglas Togarasei Mwonzora pleaded not guilty when he appeared before Harare magistrate Richard Ramaboea.
The State was represented by Moses Mapanga.
Mwonzora is facing several counts of contravening the Road Traffic Act namely failure to insure a motor vehicle as required by the law, failure to license a vehicle and negligent driving.
Allegations are that the 51 year old who is holder of a class four and five driver’s license, was driving his Toyota Land Cruiser along Tynwald Road due North.
When he approached the intersection of Kirkman drive and Tynwald Road, it is alleged that Mwonzora made an immediate turn and bumped into another land cruiser behind him belonging to Onismo Muzhingi.
The particulars of the negligence are that he failed to keep the vehicle under proper control and failed to stop or act reasonably when a collision seemed imminent.
