NEWLY appointed Triangle captain Collins Dhuwa welcomed his new role and promised to work hard for the team.

Brian Chikwenya and Ronald Mudimu will deputise Dhuwa.

The development came after Triangle lost their previous captains Ralph Kawondera and Kudzai Chigwida.

Dhuwa said he is optimistic and looking forward to his new role.

“I am happy with the new role, it means I have to work hard and be disciplined since I will be the leader.

“I have to lead by example. People look up to me so I have to be someone who they look up to, my ways have to be straight on and off the field.

“The role comes with a lot of responsibilities,” said Dhuwa.

The former Chicken Inn forward said he is looking forward to a successful 2020.

He said the team is looking forward to do better than they did last season.

Last season Triangle represented Zimbabwe in the CAF Confederation Cup.

“2020 is about achieving big. We want to win everything. From the championship to all the cups that come our way.

“We have won before and we want to do it again. We want a better and improved season.

“We have set goals we want to achieve and there won’t be any excuses,” he added.

Dhuwa said the team has roped in equally good signings to replace those who left.

The Taurai Mangwiro-coached side have lost Kawondera, Chigwida, Donald Dzvinyai, Anelka Chivandire, Marion Chang, Nyasha Chintuli, Tapiwa Chilenga and Praise Tonha.

They have since roped in Ralph Matema, Jameson Mukombwe, Takabva Mawaya and Talbert Shumba among other new signings.

“We don’t want to compare the new signings to the ones that has left us, they are now water under the bridge.

“Focus is on the players who we will be playing with us in the upcoming season. They are equally good and they are willing to do their best for the team.

“So far so good. Everything is going according to plan,” added the attacking midfielder.

Dhuwa finished last season with five goals.
