THE Confederation of African Football (CAF) has approved Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo as the only venue suitable to host international matches, Zifa has announced.
The CAF stadium inspection team which is reported to have visited the country in November condemned the National Sports Stadium in Harare and Mandava in Zvishavane.
This leaves the country with only one stadium – Barbourfields – to host CAF games for clubs and national team.
“Following CAF stadium inspections last month, Mandava stadium and NSS failed to meet minimum requirements to host CAF matches . Consequently, they have been removed from the list of homologated stadiums. CAF have also exceptionally authorised BF to host CAF matches,” posted Zifa on Twitter.
