Ngezi Platinum boss Rodwell Dhlakama believes his charges are ready to eliminate Chicken Inn in a Chibuku Super Cup quarter final match scheduled for Saturday.

The Mhondoro-based side are deemed dark horses to win the competition and they have to bench press the weight of the Gamecocks who are yet to taste defeat in the tournament.

In an interview with H-Metro Sport yesterday, Dhlakama said he is anticipating a blockbuster encounter against the high flying Chicken Inn.

“Yes we are ready for them, we have been preparing and the boys are responding quite well for the encounter.

“It is now a different stage of the competition, there is no room to lose concentration or to experiment. We are playing a strong team, a side which is good enough to shutter our Chibuku Super Cup dream,” said Dhlakama.

When asked about his team’s poor defence record, he said:

“We play attacking football and that is our philosophy. Yes, I am worried that we have been conceding goals and it is something we have been working on, but what matters at the end of the day is three points. We have been caught napping at the back and the boys tend to relax when the game is flowing but it is something we are working on.

“I am happy that the lads are scoring up front, we have Bruno Mtigo who has been on top of his game and we also have many anytime scorers like Denver Mukamba, Wellington Taderera, Nyasha Chintuli to mention but just a few. I believe we are a balanced team and the boys are showing the zeal and the energy levels are extremely high.

“We are also excited that we are playing in front of the fans. They had been deprived access to watch these games by Covid-19 and we are happy that we are playing at home. Lately, we have been playing away fixtures and we had to succeed against fatigue and it is not easy for the players but I’m happy they showed great attitude to cope with the unpleasant experience.”
