NOMADIC guitarist and jazz crooner, Yourhoney Jeremiah, has praised Victor Kunonga for shaping his career.
After working with several artists, who include Munya Mataruse, Mbeu, Sam Dondo and Garry Tight, as a session guitarist, Yourhoney has finally settled in Kunonga’s Band Peace camp.
Yourhoney has also been granted the greenlight to record his own music.
In an interview with H-Metro, the 32-year-old said he has just released her own debut album named ‘Sahwira Wangu.’
“I am currently an instrumentalist for Victor Kunonga but I am humbled by the love I get from my paymaster,” he says.
“Unlike other bosses that I have worked for, I was granted the greenlight to record my own music because it has always been my wish.
“I am learning quite a lot from him and my debut album called ‘Sahwira’ is actually a present to him.
“I recorded it in Belvedere at Trust Samende (Mokoomba lead guitarist)’s studio.
“It carries seven tracks namely Maramba Doro, Mhere Mhere, Tenzi Ndiringe, Zverudo, Ndiregerere, Shingiraira and, of course, the title track (Sahwira Wangu), which I recorded witn my boss’ blessings.”
A father of one, Yourhoney says Kunonga has taught him to be innovative.
“I have improved a lot as a man and I am glad that I am putting into practice some of the things, which I have learnt from him.
“I will continue doing my best to ensure that I fulfill all my goals.”
Largely self-taught, Yourhoney’s dream is to become a music great in the future.
“I would like to emulate the likes of Oliver Mtukudzi, Marshall Munhumumwe and living legend Alick Macheso, who happens to be my role model.
“I will continue working hard to ensure that I reach that level and I would like to be remembered as one of the game-changers in Zimbabwe.”
