NICHRUT coach John Nyikadzino was impressed with the leadership shown by Rodreck Mutuma when they edged Mutare City 2-0 at Vengere on Sunday.
Mutuma was on target twice as Nichrut made an impressive start to the second round of the season.
Four crucial changes were made to the first eleven, including the introduction of Themba Ndlovu, Washington Pakamisa and Ali Maliselo.
“We were under pressure for positive results considering our poor performance towards the end of the first half of the season,” said Nyikadzino.
“Our game against Mutare City was experimental I must say and I introduced four new players into the first eleven and to my surprise the combination worked.
“There is a secret that many people didn’t know between me and Mutuma, we once worked together at Rangers FC in division one before he moved to Dynamos, so I know him and I even know his capabilities,” added Nyikadzino.
“I am happy he managed to deliver something that I was not expecting from him especially on his debut match.
“We are still working on the combination but I am happy with the experience shown by the new players.
“At least now we are out of the danger zone, this win was crucial it will act as a morale booster to the players, we still have to work extra-hard to accomplish our target,” he said.
