SEVERAL children’s homes in Zimbabwe yesterday received $1 720 076 each at the OK Grand Jackpot Promotion handover ceremony.
Mathew Rusike, Manhinga Village and Harare Children’s Home are some of the orphanages which benefited from the annual shopping jamboree.
Harare Children’s Home director, Maria Sithole, said the donation came at the right time.
“As a children’s home, we receive vouchers from OK Zimbabwe every year worth around $500 000.
“When we came here, our expectations were around that amount but, fortunately, we were really surprised to receive such a large amount.
“We have 84 children that we are looking after and we thank OK Zimbabwe for supporting us during this time of economic hardships.
“We get assistance from individuals but it’s not enough to cater for all our needs hence OK Zimbabwe has really rescued us because the amount will sustain us for a longer period,” she added.

Similar sentiments were echoed by Manhinga Village Children’s home director, Miriam Mhunduru, who was all smiles, after the donation.
“The home is under the AFM church and we are beneficiaries of OK Zimbabwe where we get aid every year, in the form of vouchers.
“We have 65 children, who are going to school, and the vouchers will assist in getting learning materials for our children, as well as other needs,” she said.
