ORPHANAGE FOUNDER, JOURNALIST DIES

THE Goromonzi community is mourning the death of journalist and founder of Vision for Christ Orphanage, Raymond David Makomborero Chinamora.

Chinamora died on Thursday last week at the age of 84.

The orphanage, based in Goromonzi, provides assistance to widows and widowers.

Chinamora obtained his journalism certificate in 1979 and was among the first black journalists to interview Margaret Thatcher at Number 10 Downing Street in London.

He worked for publications such as The Observer and Weekly Express.

His daughter, Rebecca, said:

“He founded an orphanage home in a rural community where the society gathered to enjoy the fruits of his unconditional love,” said Rebecca.

He will be buried at Glen Forest Cemetery today.
