The Passengers Association of Zimbabwe (PAZ) president Tafadzwa Goliati has urged drivers to drive carefully on the roads.
Goliati said this following a horrific accident which happened yesterday along Harare-Mutare road yesterday.
He said PAZ was saddened by the accident.
“As PAZ we are not happy with this accident; we pass our deepest condolences to the families of those who died and to those injured. We wish them speedy recovery.
“Accidents have become a menace and we continue to lose precious lives due to the recklessness of some drivers.
“These drivers have a tendency of competing on the roads; they will be speeding because they would have been given a certain target that they are obliged to reach by the end of day,” he said.
He said people causing accident should be jailed.
“These reckless drivers should be jailed rather than being fined, both the owners of the bus and the drivers should be jailed because once they are fined they go back on the road and repeat the very same thing they would have been for before.
“I call upon the government to put upon a bill of rights to protect the passengers because there is a lot of chaos in the public transport sector.”
