AFRO-jazz musician Pee Jay – real name Paul Jonas – has released a singles compilation, adding to his growing discography.
The new project carries 10 songs and Pee Jay believes it will leave a mark in the industry.

In an interview with H-Metro Entertainment & Lifestyle, the entertainer said the singles compilation was as a result of calls for new music from his fans.

“I started music in 2010 and but went into the studio four years later. It was not an easy journey because after all these years, my first album came in 2017 although I was tagging live shows during all these years.

“My first album was in 2017 was titled Mudzimu Ndiringe and last year I released another one titled Kuchema Kwangu in 2020. The response to my music has been overwhelming and there have been calls from my fans to release new music. I then decided to drop these 10 singles before the end of the year,” said Pee Jay.

The rising entertainer has featured yesteryear dancehall star Yombree Man on the song titled Locadia.

Some of the songs on the compilation include Moyo wangu, Ndasara Ndega, Ndimi Munoziva ft Ras Fire, Tell Me Why, Evelyn, Mai VeVana, Tsamba, Wafunga Rudo and Unondikonzeresa.

“I have featured Yombree Man in one of the songs with the idea of bringing variety to my fans. The other song features another rising star Ras Fire.

“As musicians, we believe in collaborations because they help you broaden your fan base which is very important to me as well,” he said.
He added:

“I was much inspired into music by a lot of musicians in Zimbabwe across genres. I used to listen to a number of top artistes in Zimbabwe and abroad as well. However, obviously there was towards afro-jazz which I then decided to pursue. My love for music was derived from our roots and identity as African people,” said Pee Jay.

He said the new singles are already enjoying rave reviews on the local airwaves.

“The music is already doing well on local radio stations and other streaming platforms. We are making of the new media and this has helped connect with our fans from all over the world,” said Pee Jay.

His affairs are being managed by Dr Kutira.

Pee Jay has shared the stage with musicians like Progress Chipfumo, Somandla Ndebele and Shepherd Chinyani among others.
