NORTHEN Region side Chegutu Pirates coach Richard Chunga says his players’ performance has been negative due to lack of salaries.
It is reported that the players have not been receiving their salaries since the beginning of the season.
“My players are less motivated due to lack of a sponsor.
“They are just playing football for us, but we have nothing to offer -they are just playing for nothing.
“We are still looking for a sponsor, the Chegutu Council is not in a position to give us anything,” said Chunga.
“It is sad for the players, who need a decent income to sustain their personal needs. There is no motivation to win games since they do not have salaries since the season started.
“In all these difficulties the boys are, however, playing good football and are backed by the former Warriors player Raphael Manuvire.”
The Pirates have only won one game out of six with three draws, two defeats in which they scored four goals and conceded five, leaving them 12th on the league table.
Chunga is, however, hopeful they will start winning games as they face Banket tomorrow at Pfupajena.
“We have many talented young players and we are building a very strong team which will last for many years.
“We have had enough of draws and now we are gunning for a win.
“In our game against Banket will be a battle for us to collect three points.
“We want our fans to be patient, it’s too early to judge us, we are going to win come this Saturday,” he lamented,” said Chunga.
