PRESIDENT Mnangagwa on Monday urged people to pray without ceasing for the nation to achieve desired results.
He said this at State House where he hosted various church leaders in the national day of fasting and prayer he announced in fighting Covid-19.
“While I have declared today the 15th of June as the National Day of prayer, we are mindful that the Bible encourages us to pray without ceasing for this is the will of our heavenly father,” said President Mnangagwa.
“As such we pray and fast today, but shall indeed pray always.
“Today we come boldly before the Heavenly Throne of Grace standing on the scripture, as highlighted in the declaration of this day; found in 2 Chronicles 7:13-15 which reads: “if I send pestilences among My people; and My people who are called by my Name shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now Mine eyes shall be open, and my ears attend to the prayer that is made in this place.”
“We therefore gather in prayer, in the total belief and knowledge that the word of God is true, for indeed “Heaven and Earth will pass away but His word, shall not pass away” (Matthew 24 verse 35).
“We are also confident that God watches over His word, to perform it.
“As a nation, we are faced with a menacing and deadly pandemic of a catastrophic nature, the Covid-19 pandemic which threatens death over our land,” said President Mnangagwa.
He took the opportunity to thank and appreciate efforts of all Zimbabweans for their co-operation and support of the Government’s Response Strategy to the Covid-19 pandemic he said have saved lives.
President Mnangagwa thanked God for continuing to suppress deaths in the nation saying Government will continue to make every effort humanly possible to curb the virus.
“We are however cognizant that the word of God clearly teaches us, that pestilences of this nature come upon mankind in these last days as a judgment and warning from the Almighty God who desires us to stop ignoring His laws and to turn to Him in repentance with all our hearts,” he said.
President said the Lord breaks the bow and makes storms cease and he promises to heal our land and to stop this disease.
“In Zimbabwe, we have chosen to be part of the first category of those who humble themselves, acknowledging God and glorifying Him as God,” said President Mnangagwa.
“We have chosen to repent and to seek His Mercy, help, healing and wisdom in the face of this deadly corona virus pandemic.
“I, as your President have no hesitation in leading and calling us to this path of seeking Devine help as it is written blessed is that nation whose God is Jehovah,’ he said quoting Pslams 33 verse 12.
