…fears African models marginalisation
Versatile model and beauty queen, Sindiso Ndlovu, will be leaving for India tomorrow to represent the country at the Miss Multinational International competition.
The beauty, who is expected in camp on January 9, said this will be her first international competition and officially marks the peak of her modelling career.
Sindiso, also known as Pretty Sindy, will go head to head with over 30 queens from around the world for the prestigious title.
Speaking to H-Metro, she expressed confidence saying she has been taking time to thoroughly prepare and perfect herself.
“To prepare for the pageant I have been doing catwalk lessons, practicing interviews and I have been working out so I can be in the best shape possible as there is a bikini section as well.
“For my pageant career this is definitely the peak as it is my first international pageant.
“Hopefully I will gain exposure and experience of being on a global stage, with this title I will be able to work with many organizations and get endorsements deals.
“I hope Miss Multinational will be a platform for me to raise awareness on issues that I am passionate about like the empowerment of women,” she said.
Sindiso, who recently took part at the Harare Fashion Week showcase, has been increasing her personal brand’s visibility in the industry which enabled her to get sponsorship to go to the international pageant.
She however, pointed out her concerns regarding the sidelining of African models at big competitions though she vowed to do her best in representing the nation.
“I am looking forward to meeting delegates from all over the world and learning about their different cultures.
“I am also excited to showcase my talent, represent as well as bring more interest to Zimbabwe.
“My concerns would be placement because African delegates barely get placed in the final rounds despite putting maximum efforts, but will do my best to make my country proud and make full use of the opportunity,” the beauty queen said.
She went on to say that she is honoured to be holding the national title and given her academic background as a Biochemistry and statistics graduate, Sindiso hopes to present the full package at Miss Multinational.
