THE wait is over!
The Soccer Star of the Year will be unveiled in the capital tonight with the race seemingly pitting Joel Ngodzo (CAPS United), Prince Dube (Highlanders) and Ralph Kawondera (Triangle).
Unlike in the previous seasons, the awards night will be held two games before the season ends, leaving the Golden Boot award hanging.
Focus, however, is on the big one – the Soccer Star of the Year – with Ngodzo tipped to be the winner.
CAPS are closer to clinching the 2019 championship if they are to win their remaining matches against Ngezi Platinum and FC Platinum and Josta has been instrumental in the campaign.
While Josta is the front-runner, Highlanders striker Prince Dube is also tipped for the top prize after being instrumental in his team’s resurgence.
Triangle captain Ralph Kawondera is among the outstanding players this season.
The awards night will also see the first and second runners up being named with Clive Augusto also in the matrix.
Augusto, who left Chicken Inn for Maritzburg United in South Africa, is still the leading scorer despite leaving the country the beginning of August.
Some of the players in the finalists include Ariel Sibanda (Highlanders), Wellington Taderera (Black Rhinos), King Nadolo (TelOne), Never Tigere (FC Platinum), Ian Nekati (ZPC Kariba), Phineas Bamusi (CAPS United), Evans Katema (Dynamos).
The Coach of the Year, Golden Glove, Rookie of the Year and Most Disciplined Team are some of the awards to be revealed.
