STAR FM music awards organisers yesterday announced that all winners will walk away with US$300 per category courtesy of Teemak-real name Taona Oswald Chipunza , one of the sponsors of the awards.
“Malaysia based businessman Teemak has partnered with Star FM to ensure that the artists receive a monetary prize,” said Star FM in a statement.
Teemak said he gave the money to acknowledge the efforts of artistes in Zimbabwe.

“We can never match what they have invested in their careers but it is a tangible step in the right direction,” said the young millionaire.

The award organisers have said that the main reason for the downloading of the event was to channel some of the sponsorship towards prize money for the artistes.
“One of the key learning points from last year was the need to not only give recognition through a statuette but to give a financial reward – albeit a small one – in recognition to the artists’ efforts,” said Star FM.
