Producer, manager Opens Up on Missing gary mapanzure

MUSIC producer and manager, Tashinga Chifamba, says he really misses the late Garry Mapanzure.

He feels Grary’s song ‘Wapunza,’ was the artist’s breakthrough moment.

Chifamba produced ‘Wapunza’ seven years ago.

The song has had 5.7 million views on YouTube.

In an interview with H-Metro, Chifamba, says he misses working with Mapanzure as their partnership was one of the greatest moments in his musical journey.

“The project I am particularly proud of has to be ‘Wapunza’ by the late Garry Mapanzure.

“That was my first project ever released and it also caused a buzz and that was the validation I needed that I can actually do this.”

Chifamba said he is also proud to have played a part in Mr Candy’s career.

“Working with Mr Candy was great both as his producer and manager, we managed to build a career up to the level where he now is as a mainstream artist, which is something I’m proud of.

“I’m no longer his manager but we have some projects we are still working on while some of them are done but not yet been released,” he said.

Chifamba also talked about how difficult it is to work with artists on a zero budget.

“As a manager, it’s difficult to work with artists when there is zero budget, especially with these upcoming artists and we end up taking longer than it’s supposed to be because of lack of funds.

“And all music practitioners need to start taking contracts more seriously.”

He added:

“It’s a fun experience working to create a specific sound/vision for an artist because we get to create something from scratch and the end product is something that everyone can relate to, which is bigger than what we really think it is like.

“When working with other producers in the studio, I tend to focus more on doing what I am sure are my strengths and knowing to ask if I don’t know something.

“Teamwork was important when we produced ‘Wachinja’ by KSG di Don, which ended up becoming his breakout single and introduced him to the fans.”
