Prosecutors have written to the Prosecutor General declaring their incapacity to continue working as long as hasn’t addressed their concerns.
In the letter addressed to the Prosecutor General Kumbirai Hodzi and his deputy Nelson Mutsonziwa, Prosecutors Association of Zimbabwe last Friday said the generality of prosecutors proposed that they report to work twice a week on rotational basis and they be accommodated at their workstations together with their families.
The letter made reference to a previous petition written to Hodzi on May 16, raising issues affecting the welfare of the prosecution in Zimbabwe which is still to be address despite his office making an undertaking to address the issues raised.
Amongst the issues raised were housing loans, motor vehicle loans, medical aid schemes, bonuses, condition of services and remuneration.
The prosecutors further said their situation is being further nosedived by the prevailing harsh economic conditions.
“This has seen our mirage salaries being drastically eroded by high transport costs, rentals and medical fees, we are now badly exposed and cannot even buy ourselves lunch,” read the letter.
