AFRO pop sensation, Queen Charlotte, says she can’t wait to take part in the two-day Lake October Masvingo Festival.
Now in its third edition, the main event will take place at the Caravan Park.
Selmor Mtukudzi, Winky D, Enzo Ishall and DJ Liz from Bulawayo will take part in the festival tonight.
Dubbed “Pink Friday 20 October”, event organisers will also raise awareness against cancer on the opening day.
After this affair, Killer T and XQ will lead an array of young Turks alternating under one roof tomorrow at the same venue.
Rapper Holy Ten, who recently tied the knot with his sweetheart Kimberly, will celebrate his milestone in Masvingo at this festival tomorrow.
He will share the stage with King Her and Afro-fusion artist Mbeu.
Queen Charlotte — real name Charlotte Moyo —believes she will not just be adding the numbers at the festival.
“I’m looking forward to the festival where we are promoting domestic tourism through music.
“We are also promoting the Great Zimbabwe Ruins and Lake Mutirikwi.
“As a musician, I am going to share the stage with some of the popular names on the local showbiz scene,” she said.
Queen Charlotte believes she has been given a chance to shine.
“The Lake October Festival is one of the biggest events on the calendar in Masvingo and I would like to utilise that platform.
“Besides being an artist, I also work on the marketing side of the event.”
Born in Victoria Falls, Queen Charlotte has since settled in Chiredzi where she works in the hospitality sector.
Besides the Great Zimbabwe Ruins, Masvingo boasts of other tourist attractions like Gonarezhou National Park, which attracts international tourists.
