Rainbow Amateur Netball League is still keen on engaging the netball mother body, Zimbabwe Netball Association (ZINA), despite the latter launching its netball league.
RANL Secretary General, Moses Gukurume said the emergence of (PNL) will throw them into abyss but will create competition and increase the quality of netball.
“RANL is a separate entity from PNL and is pursuing interests of its constituency. That other teams have joined PNL is not an issue, Zimbabwe is reach in terms of Netball talent.
“The coming in of another league will enhance competition and increase opportunities for our athletes.
“There are no challenges in as far as our engagement with ZINA is concerned our expectations are that ZINA is a professional body with room to accommodate more players,” said Gukurume.
Gukurume also disclosed that their sponsorship deal with Glow Petroleum is not in any way affected by the exodus of teams from their league.
“Our sponsor is still committed to sponsor RANL in its shape and form. We have partnered with a principled sponsor who is an all-weather friend,” he said.
The move by ZINA is a huge blow to RANL’s attempts to thaw relations with ZINA with the latter refusing to recognise the former as a league.
