JAZZ sensation and music teacher, Raven Duchess, is reaping rewards for her consistency.
Born Ruvimbo Mapanda, Raven will take part in the Jam n Jazz Festival in South African from September 16-17 in Bronkhorstspruit, Meander Estate, in Mpumalanga.
She is billed to share the stage with top South African artists, led by the legendary Sipho “Hotsticks” Mabuse, Ntsiki Mazwai, Norman Chauke, Sandile Masilela, among others.
“I am performing songs from my new album entitled Folklore. I will be representing Zimbabwe on the 16th of September, fusing folklore and afro jazz fusion.
“This is part of my tour, which started in Harare heading to Vic Falls, Bulawayo and now South Africa.
“I am honoured to have been selected to represent Zimbabwe.
“I will be taking my audience on a spiritual musical journey.
“I will also be performing at the Shoko Festival and it will be held in October,” she said.
An advocate of jazz and Afro folklore, Raven is blessed with a beautiful voice and songwriting skills, which have enabled her to tell African stories.
She has collaborated with artists from Kenya, Poland, South Africa, Spain, Cuba, Argentina, Switzerland the UK and Germany.
Back home, she has also worked with top jazz gurus.
