THE woman, who was battered in a vicious gang attack which was recorded by five women, has been offered free medical treatment and the chance to train as a nurse aide, without even paying a cent for the three-month training programme.

Mavis Mada, 18, of Hwedza was offered free medical treatment by Dr Michael Mandaza of Pacific 24Hour Hospital in Mabvuku.

The hospital will also offer free nurse aide training for Mada and will also manage her rehabilitation as she recovers, both physically and mentally, from the severe battering she received at the hands of those who viciously assaulted her.

Mada failed her Ordinary Level examinations two years ago and has been living with her grandmother and comes from a very poor background

.Her mother is a house maid in Harare, her father died some time ago and she has been staying with her grandmother in Hwedza.

Mada was abused for four hours and the assailants even inserted three sticks into her private parts and has been bleeding continuously since the savage attack.

“Pacific 24hr Hospital is extending our gesture to offer Mavis a three-month full training on Nurse Aide course,” said Dr Mandaza.

“This course has both theory and practical attachment for three months.

“Pacific 24hr Hospital is going to fund the full bill of the training; full uniform sets and also fund food and accommodation throughout the 90 days of training.

“This training gesture is to empower the girl child Mavis so that she becomes self-sufficient,” said Dr Mandaza.

Examinations carried out so far indicate that Mada has got many bruises and scars all over her body as a result of severe punishment she took during the assault.

She is still in severe pain and is walking with a limp.

Mada underwent some X- Ray checks of the chest, legs, pelvis and no fracture was noted.
