Northern Region Division One chairman Martin Kweza has urged clubs to move with speed in getting players vaccinated.
The Pre-season kickoff, player registration, and venue inspection are scheduled for September 20 before the league commences on October 29.
In an interview with H-Metro Sport yesterday, Kweza urged clubs to take heed of the vaccination programme.
“Our priority is to get players vaccinated. In as much as we are excited with the resumption of Division One football, we must not lose sight of Covid-19. We are aware that boys have been out of action for almost two years and they are going to have a four to five weeks pre-season.
Concurrently, we are also working with the F.I.B to ensure that the grounds that we have authorized are secured. Our annual general meeting will be held on September 25. The agenda is to see to it that we kick-start the season without any obstacles.
“We are still trying to bring more sponsors on board. As for now we have completed our partnership with Ruyamuro, Anza-Quit.
“They are coming in for the coach of the month and coach of the year accolades. We are going to sign another one for the top goal scorer award. If all goes according to the script, we are likely going to have a tournament. It is a matter of time before we clinch deals which are almost done. It is unfortunate that I can not divulge the names but the future is bright,” said Kweza.
He added that only the clubs who have met the fundamental requirements in compiling with the protocols will be cleared to start training.
