MASHONALAND West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Marian Chombo has urged students to focus on their academic objectives and avoid social ills.

She said this during a visit to Chinhoyi Technical High School’s income generating projects.

Min Chombo commended the school for introducing technical vocational education courses such as crop and animal production to equip students with entrepreneurial skills.

Students were advised to take their technical vocational training seriously as the skills acquired would provide them with the knowledge necessary for their personal and professional endeavours.

The students were urged to desist from engaging in social vices such as drug abuse, early child marriages and early pregnancies.

“I am informed that the school now offers HEXCO courses such as crop, animal production, garment construction, cabinet making, cosmetology, technical graphics, building studies, National Strategic studies and other various fields,” she said.

“Chinhoyi Technical High School has taken education to another level and has managed to walk the talk of the Second Republic Government’s mantra of making education accessible to all and leaving no one and no place behind.

“I want to applaud your ingenuity of producing your own goods in your own backyard.”

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education was requested to avail more land for the expansion of the school’s income-generating projects.
