CRISTIANO RONALDO has produced one of the misses of the season for Al-Nassr.
The veteran forward somehow missed the target from inside the six-yard box against Al-Ain on Monday night.
Ronaldo had been gifted the chance to level their AFC Champions League quarter-final after the goalkeeper spilled a shot.
However, after pouncing on the rebound, he stabbed his effort wide of the post.
He was left with his head in his hands as his team-mates looked on in shock following the spurned opportunity.
It comes after he was mocked by fans during the first leg in the United Arab Emirates last week.
Reacting to the miss on social media, one fan commented: “Messi could never.”
Another added: “How has Ronaldo missed from here?”
A third fan also wrote: “My goat would never.”
Meanwhile, one more said: “Call it a day mate.”
The miss proved pivotal as Al-Nassr won 3-2 in normal time, with the quarter-final tie ending 3-3 on aggregate.
Had Ronaldo scored, his side would have advanced to the semi-finals, without the need for extra-time.
Instead, they were forced to play the final 22 minutes of extra-time with 10 men before losing 3-1 on penalties.
Ronaldo did get on the scoresheet, though, with his 118th minute penalty sending the match to spot-kicks after Al-Ain had retaken the lead on aggregate.
However, he was the only Al-Nassr player to find the net in the shootout as they missed out on a last four berth.
Ronaldo’s goal was his 29th in all competitions this term, alongside 11 assists in 32 appearances.
The 39-year-old is the current Saudi Pro League top scorer with 22 strikes in the competition.
Despite those goals, Al-Nassr trail unbeaten league leaders Al-Hilal by 12 points with 11 matches remaining – Sun.
