IT was a rough Wednesday for veteran defender Ronald Pfumbidzai.
The day started with his omission from the provisional Warriors squad for 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
It ended with a red card in a DStv Premiership match for his South African side, SuperSport United in their 3-2 win over TS Galaxy.
He was named among the substitutes while fellow countryman, Onismor Bhasera, started as the leftback.
However, Pfumbidzai was introduced in the 37th minute when Bhasera sustained what appeared to be a hamstring injury.
In a chaotic finish to the game, Pfumbidzai was shown two yellow cards in less than two minutes, the expulsion coming in the 84th minute.
The former CAPS United leftback told Zimpapers Sports he will be back stronger.
“I was shown a second yellow, and yeah it’s part of the game.
“It happens, I will serve my suspension and move on.
“Even the coach comforted me after the card. I will just try to avoid mistakes that get me booked and will come back stronger,” he said.
Pfumbidzai has been an integral part of the Warriors and was even part of the squad that was in camp during the international break last month.
However, his name was omitted in the squad released on Wednesday.
