Russell’s X-rated blast caught on team radio

GEORGE RUSSELL lashed out at his Mercedes team after a major blunder cost him and team-mate Lewis Hamilton at the Dutch Grand Prix.

Russell started Sunday’s race in third place and the Formula One team was immensely confident he would finish on the podium.

Hamilton, on the other hand, had a disastrous qualifying that left him P13 on the grid.

But then it started to rain and the British duo’s rivals were wise enough to immediately put on wet tyres. Russell and Hamilton wanted to do the same but were instructed to stay out.

That bad call led to the former Williams star slipping down the pack and finishing 17th, whereas Sir Lewis fought through and made it to sixth place.

Russell was then heard fuming on the team radio: “I was forecast for a podium. F**k! How did we mess this up?”

The 25-year-old was still seething after he got out of the car claiming the race was “over before it really got started”. – Sun
