DYNAMOS captain Edward Sadomba is still a darling in Sudan.
Sadomba had a good stint in Sudan where he played for Al Hilal.
He is a ‘deity’ in Sudan and this was proven on Friday when Al Hilal played FC Platinum with a banner with Sadomba’s name on the stands.
Zimbabwean ambassador to Sudan Dr Emmanuel Runganga also encouraged players to be good ambassadors and have a good impact like what Sadomba had left in Sudan.
He said this at his residence where he hosted the team and had a luncheon.
“Keep raising the flag high. You’re our ambassadors, when you walk in the streets of Khartoum and mention that you come from Zimbabwe, they will immediately say the name Sadomba.
“They remember Sadomba he is the real ambassador, you’re the real ambassadors you must put on your best behaviors for the sake of the team and the country,” he said.
Sadomba told H-Metro that he is honoured to have left such a great impact in Sudan.
“As a player it’s rare for people to love you that much especially when you’re a foreigner.
“Not all players get that recognition and l’m honoured to be one. I’m also happy that l left such an impact in Sudan.
“It’s been long since l have been there but fans still remember me and appreciate my work. And l’m grateful for that and l just want to thank them for their loving support. It’s something that makes me excited that they still recognize me,” he said.
He also has an advice for fellow players on how to achieve that.
“My advice to all the players is that they should be good ambassadors in whatever league they are playing.
“Because you’re not just representing your family name but your country as well. Like in this case, it’s a great feeling, they (Sudanese) are so passionate about football, they take football seriously and appreciate every individual.
“Al-Hilal is not just a club, it’s like a government, every country sector is involved. It’s a privilege to play for such a club. It’s the same club that made me to be CAF Champions League top scorer in 2011 and in 2012 CAF Confederation Cup top scorer,” said Sadomba.
