SONGBIRD Sandra Ndebele and Andy Muridzo said they were honoured to perform at the Heroes Gala at the Harare International Conference Centre on Monday evening.

The two artists, who have never disappointed at State functions, concurred that it is always an honour rendering their services at national events.

Sandra, who wowed fans with her energetic polished act, said she will always cherish the event.

“Such events are hard to forget as they are priceless moments.

“In my case, I have been performing at State functions for years and it still feels good to be serving my country.

“I still have the energy to serve my people and I won’t give up.

“I just enjoy myself on stage and it was nice being joined by top Government officials on stage during my slot,” she said.

Added the dancing queen:

“To us in the arts sector, we are also remembering some of the icons that are no longer with us.

“I’m dedicating this performance to Cont Mhlanga, who was laid to rest on Saturday.

“He was a hero in showbiz and we will always cherish him for the good things he has done for us.”

Similar sentiments were echoed by Muridzo, who also had a good day in the office.

“I just love to perform at such events, which mean a lot for us in showbiz.

“As artists, we need to respect national events and I will always be available when my services are needed as was the case today.

“I thoroughly enjoyed myself and it was just an honour performing here.”

Agartha Murudzwa also performed at the event, with urban grooves artists Roki, Discord and Enzo Ishall giving fans a variety of entertainment.

Visiting Afro pop duo, Mafikizolo, was at its usual best.

Their chemistry on stage was amazing, as they simply delivered one of the best acts of the night.

The event was graced by Information, Publicity and Broadcasting   Services Minister, Monica Mutsvanga, her deputy, Honourable Kindness Paradza, Permanent Secretary Nick Mangwana, several Government officials as well as socialites Passion Java and Mike Chimombe.
