NEWBOYS Scottland FC owner, Scott Sakupwanya, says his club’s real strength will be seen in the second half of the ZIFA Northern Region Division One campaign.

He says he will go on an all-out shopping list to bring some of the best players, in the country, into his stable and ensure they are well equipped to win the ticket into the Premiership.

Scott was so distraught, after the shock 0-1 home defeat to PAM, he spent the whole of last week attending the entire training sessions, which were held by his team.

After the sessions, he would address his players, for about 30 minutes, with the common theme being his disappointment with the way they had lost to PAM.

He said he was a winner and did not want to be associated with failed projects and those who were not playing to expectations will be shipped out and replaced.

The Mabvuku-based team responded on Sunday with a 1-0 win over CC Lee Mhangura at Kuwadzana in Banket.

The victory lifted them to third on the table.

They have 15 points from their opening seven games and they are just four points adrift of leaders Harare City, whose 100 percent winning record was ended by Black Rhinos in a 1-1 draw.

“I think our real strength will be shown in the second half of the season, which is the crucial stage of the championship,” said Scott.

“When the transfer window opens, the mission is to bring in quality players, including many who are playing in our Premier League and I feel they will make a difference to our charge.

“Don’t forget that we assembled this team in a hurry but the boys are doing well but we are on a bigger mission and that is why we need more quality players to join us mid-season.

“We want to make the people of Mabvuku proud of their team.”
