Security guards gets 10 years for theft

Two security guards were sentenced to 10 years in prison for being found with Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) copper conductors.

Blessmore Kimini,30, and Walter Muza, 25, pleaded guilty to stealing copper cables valued at $360 before Harare magistrate Learnmore Mapiye.

The state had it that on March 10, the police officers were attached on ZESA operation, patrolling at Siyaso Magaba Complex when they intercepted Kamini and Muza who were carrying white sacks with copper products.

The officers introduced themselves to Kamini and Muza and they searched their sacks and recovered 18kgs of ZESA copper conductors from each one of them.

The two didn’t have the permit to possess the copper conductors.

The duo was arrested and brought to the police station.

A ZESA official was summoned to the police and he positively identified the cables and the two subsequently appeared in court.
