CHITUNGWIZA sangoma Sekuru Kafera claims his magical powers were behind the “riches” which fitness guru Eddy Fresh and his wife Shylete Masangamba were acquiring.
The couple died in a road accident near Kutama.
In a development pregnant with all the makings of an African movie, allegations are rife that the celebrity couple had been initiated into a dark world where they allegedly practiced voodoo, among other things.
Their death has become a subject of some wild claims, including allegations that they tied themselves to some supernatural powers to acquire the “riches.”
The couple’s life had been changing in recent months amid reports that they now had investments in the transport business.
Until recently, Eddy Fresh survived by taking jobs as a bouncer while his wife was a soldier.
Sekuru Kafera recently wrote to Eddy’s family, ordering them to come to his dare for talks.
“Ndine urombo ndini ndatuma nhume maererano nezvatakaitirana na Eddie nemudzimai wake.
“Ndinokumbira musvike kudare pasina kukundikana kana mapedza (burial).
“Ndini wenyu Sekuru Kafera,” he wrote.
His letter has a Zinatha stamp.
Contacted for comment, Sekuru Kafera said:
“I am the one who made them rich after they had consulted me for a better livelihood.
“I assisted the wife to get promoted and they used to buy cars as a result of my work.
“But what do they do to pay me back for that?
“They opted to ignore me as if they were the wise ones from the east.
“They have no one to blame.”
During the couple’s burial, it has been reported that Sekuru Kafera stormed Eddy’s home in the company of a police officer demanding his dues.
The sangoma is reported to have taken US$5 000.
He is said to also have demanded the deceased couple’s vehicles, including the accident-damaged one.
The couple’s burial coincided with a chain of mysterious events.
They were buried together with suitcases full of their clothes.
Seven people, who were set to attend the funeral, were also mysteriously involved in an accident when the commuter omnibus ferrying them overturned.
A bolt of lightning then struck the tent in which some mourners were gathered.
“I have never suffered such humiliation all my life. It was shocking to learn that my son and his wife were into satanism, prostitution, homosexuality and manjuzu.
“Thanks Mai Nyasha. Bhaibheri rinoti patinopererwa Mwari ndopaanotangira.
“You helped me when the chips were down and l was in dire need. It can only be God who brought you on board and used you as a vessel to help me bury your ‘sister’. I am indebted to you.”
